Theater

the tempest
chicago 1987

Role:           Ferdinand
Place:         The Goodman
Playwright:  William Shakespeare

My character is the son of the king that ran off Prospero from Milan, and also the man that Prospero wants his daughter to wed.  My experience was wonderful but I was terrified because I had to be nude.  Making your professional debut nude is a bit tricky.

The Tempest was at The Goodman, which was the largest theater in Chicago.  I got paid very little but I got into the union.   JM.com 2007

"And Ferdinand, who will become Miranda's lover, makes his entrance naked, standing spread eagle in a circle like the perfectly proportioned man drawn by Leonardo da Vinci." Tom Valeo · Chicago Daily Herald

"For actors to create their own artifice in the shadow of so much synthetic magic is no easy feat, but the cast of "The Tempest" triumphs...and Marsters is delightful - finding all the humor in his own boyishness and goodness."   Hedy Weiss· Chicago Sun-Times · April 28, 1987
